This non-profit organization is committed to providing a safe and clean-living environment, life skills training, counseling, and essential resources to help individuals regain stability and dignity. With a vision to ensure that every resident in Haywood County has access to a secure place to work on their stability goals, Helping Hands of Haywood has been making a significant impact on the community. Helping Hands envisions a community where emergency shelter is readily available to all Haywood County residents. By addressing the root causes of homelessness and insecurity, the organization strives to create lasting positive change in the lives of individuals and families. Helping Hands of Haywood operates on a set of core values that recognize the intrinsic worth of every individual. The organization believes that housing, income, or addiction should not define a person or their value to the community. Emphasizing the importance of accessibility to mental health programs, Helping Hands recognizes the role of mental well-being in the healing process. Impact in 2022: In 2022, Helping Hands of Haywood provided an astounding 2,133 nights of shelter, thanks to the support of generous funders, a dedicated team, and collaborations with local partners. This accomplishment reflects the organization's commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those facing homelessness and extreme need. How You Can Help: Helping Hands relies on the support of the community to fulfill its mission. Individuals can contribute by making monetary donations online or by mail to sustain emergency shelter programs and street outreach services. The organization also welcomes donations of essential items such as hygiene supplies, sleeping bags, hats, gloves, jackets, socks, and shelf-stable snacks and food items. A note from SUDAN EDUCATION FOUNDATION: We are overjoyed to be part of a community that thrives on helping one another, where lending a hand is a way of life. We receive numerous requests each week to contribute to various causes, and while we’d love to assist every time, it’s not always possible. That’s why we’ve embarked on our very own fundraising initiative: ’52 Cakes.’
Each week, we’ll craft a unique and delightful cake, focusing on either its style or flavor, or both. Then, we’ll auction off that delectable creation. Our commitment is to donate one cake per week, supporting 52 different non-profit organizations, initiatives, and projects right here in Haywood County. Every cent raised will be directed to the cause of the week, and the following week, we’ll select another deserving cause to support.
We want to express our heartfelt appreciation to the platform that manages the bids and collects the funds on our behalf. All the winning bidder needs to do is pick up the cake on Friday morning and savor every bite, knowing they’ve made a difference.
The cakes will be finished and posted in social media and here on our website every Thursday morning. You have until 5:00 PM to bid on the cake. The winning bidder will be notified and all they need to do is pickup the cake Friday! We will list each week’s donation and the cake that earned it here every week. If you want to be included as a recipient, please send us your name, organization, contact information, a little about you and how the money will be used.
